Original large engraved map. (95 x 92 cm.) of the area around Bristol showing parts of Gloucestershire amd Somerset divided into hundreds. With inset "A view of St. Vincents Rocks and the Hotwell House taken from the Leadworks near Rownham Ferry" and also "A Plan of the Druidical Stones at Stanton Drew commonly called the Wedding". The map centred on Bristol, with radial lines showing direction and concentric rings at mile intervals, the outer ring naming the directions. Includes the hundreds of: Thornbury, Hebury, Langley and Swineshead, Pucklechurch, Grumbalds Ash, Winterstoke, Bristol, Hare Cliff cum Bedminster, Brent cum Wrington, Keynsham, Bath Forum, Chew, Wellow and Winterstoke. Scale of c. 1.5 miles per inch. Backed on original cloth and relaid onto new linen, some wear to margins with losses, three small areas of abrasion with loss to the north of Bristol, original hand-colored areas all faded to brown.

A very rare map and still very attractive despite its obvious condition isues, arguably commensurate with its age.
