WESTALL, W[illiam].

Thirty-five views on the Thames at Richmond, Eton, Windsor, and Oxford.
London: Rodwell and Martin, New Bond Street. 1824..

Folio. (44 x 34 cm.). Original printed boards, "India" in ms. top right, with renewed brown leather spine. Printed title and 35 lithographed views printed on india paper. Faint dampstain to lower outer corner through majority of leaves but only just infringing on the plate , 2 plates a little foxed, and two towards the end with slight abrasion in lower margin. Withal a very good unsophisticated copy. Ex libris M.J. Pevier.

Quite rare.
Originally published in parts (1-5, 1822 entitled "Twenty-five views...", parts 6 & 7, 1823)
Abbey describes his set, the parts issue, as coloured lithographs, but it would seem unlikely that these were ever intended to be coloured, printed as they are on india paper.
An entirely different work to Westall & Owen's 1828 publication Picturesque Tour of the River Thames, with its coloured aquatints (Abbey, 435).

(Abbey, Scenery 434)
