By the Queen's Royal Letters Patent. Betts's New Portable Terrestrial Globe. Compiled from the latest and best authorities. London: John Betts, 115 Strand. [c.1852].

Umbrella-mechanism 'pop up' globe, colour-printed linen on 8 gores over expanding metal frame, c.38cm. (15 in.), diameter at equator, central rod 72.5cm., slight surface dirt, preserved in publisher's printed paper-wrapped wooden box, advertisement label pasted inside lid. Some age-wear to the box, small rust hole c.2cm., at Labrador.

First published in 1852, but undated, this is certainly an early issue before Bett's death when the publishing of these globes was taken over by George Philip & Son in 1863.
