Bacon's New Map of South-West London In Half Inch Squares, Extending to Brentford, Richmond, Norbiton, Wimbledon, etc., etc. [c.1900] 1900. Map dimensions 75 x 76 cm, overall dimensions 80 x 82 cm. Folding colour printed map of South-West London showing the extents from Ealing Common down to Morden and Battersea Park across to Teddington. Divisions between postal codes marked in red outline. Folds between original green cloth covers with publisher's printed to upper board and advertisements to inner cover. Cover label slightly stained. The map not dissected or backed onto linen, as a consequence there are small splits at a number of fold intersections. Two tears along horizontal folds at upper edge sometime reinforced on verso, similar tears and creasing along right edge. No printed date, but the District Line is shown running to Wimbledon, the line was extended south of the Thames in 1889. On the same line what is now known as Putney Bridge is here called Putney Bridge and Fulham, the name was amended to ... & Hurlingham in 1902.
