24 Miles round London. London: G.F. Cruchley, 81 Fleet Street. 1st January, 1841.
Map diameter 62 cm, overall dimensions 70 x 71 cm. A very pretty circular map of the environs of London, showing the extents from Ware down to Dorking and East Tilbury across to Windsor. Original hand colour in outline and block. Scrolled foliate design to the spandrels. The whole dissected into twenty eight sections and mounted on linen, green marbled paper to folded end sections on linen verso. The map folds into matching marbled green paper slipcase with publisher's printed label to upper board. Attractive label of bookseller 'James Darnill, Bookseller & Stationer & Librarian, Hillshed, Richmond , Surrey'. Manuscript note in brown ink to verso of map detailing a recipe for a cure for cholera dated 18th September 1849.* Ownership inscription of 'Lt. Col. Spence, Richmond, Sep. 1849' to cover and next to the recipe. Slipcase worn at extremities, otherwise generally very good.
