LUPOIU, Jean.

370 Recettes de Cocktails. [Preface and introduction by Cheeroh]. [, c.1927].

FIRST EDITION (?)*. 8vo. (17 x 11 cm.). pp.107, interspersed with 25 alphabetical dividers with local advertisements printed on both sides. Colour printed pictorial upper cover depicting a parrot sipping at a cocktail. Portrait frontispiece of the author and 2 further half-tone plates. Two creases to upper cover, lower cover a little soiled, a slightly fragile item with evidence of use, becoming loose in its binding, but all considered a very good copy.

Having served at the top bars in Paris, including the Coq en Plat on the Champs Elysées, Jean Lupoiu was barman at the Perroquet bar at the Continental Palace Hotel, Saigon. *We are unable to locate any other copies of this edition. One of the photos depicts Le Bar du Perroquet, Saigon, 1927 and the last entry, the Zizi Cocktail, was "Inventé par Mlle C...1927". Copac lists "Cocktails, etc. [A new edition of “370 recettes de cocktails.”] Published Paris, 1938" with 181 pages and we presume our edition precedes that. Both the Continental Hotel and the publisher of this work were located on Catinat Street.
