FIRST EDITION. 12mo. (18 x 10 cm). pp. [4, being 2 blanks, half-title and title]+[v-]iv+206+[4]. Bound by Bayntun of Bath for Brentanos of New York in full red morocco with gilt stamped titles, rules and foliate decoration to upper and lower boards. Spine with gilt tooled raised bands and gilt titles and decoration to compartments. Red moiré endpapers and red morocco inner dentelles with gilt stamped geometrical pattern. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut. Silk bookmark bound in. Lacks original endpapers, gutter broken in two places but holding firm. A fine copy.

First published anonymously in September and October 1821 in the London Magazine, the Confessions was first released as a book in 1822.
